Leave People Better for the Encounter

My commitment is- I'm going to leave people better for the encounter.

My focus is on what I need to do in order to show up and continue to stay the course and make sure that happens.

What I have found is that it has to be who you are and not just something that you do. The idea of leaving someone better for the encounter… it's not a technique. It has to be who you are as a human being, and then allowing who you are to come out through the work that we do.

That looks like showing up to each conversation in a way where we focus on the candidate. Where we see them as a creative, resourceful, and whole human being who has their own vision, mission, calling, passions, and ambitions in life. How can you leave this person better for the encounter?

I can't tell you how many conversations transform after 7 or 8 minutes where it's like pulling teeth, and then just that one mantra shifts everything. And what really shifted first was my internal state.
